Microsoft has announced a new endpoint security solution for small and medium businesses: Microsoft Defender for Business.

Microsoft Defender for Business is an endpoint security solution that protects businesses with 300 or fewer employees from malware, ransomware and other cybersecurity threats in an easy-to-use, cost-effective package.

This endpoint protection was released in response to a 300% increase in ransomware attacks over the past year, with over 50% of those attacks affecting small and medium-sized businesses.

Defender for Business helps small and medium-sized businesses protect against cybersecurity threats such as malware and ransomware on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android devices.

It also simplifies client configuration with wizard-driven setup and immediate activation of recommended security policies, making it easier to manage for companies without a dedicated security team.

Microsoft Defender for Business was developed specifically to provide an easy-to-use, cost-effective solution for enterprise endpoint security for companies with up to 300 employees.

Small and medium-sized businesses can improve security and simplify configuration and management by moving from traditional antivirus to next-generation protection, endpoint detection and response, and threat and vulnerability management.

Defender for Business also integrates with Microsoft 365 Lighthouse, allowing IT service providers to add this powerful endpoint protection to their view of security events across multiple customers.

Microsoft says that a preview version of this new endpoint security will be available soon.

When generally available, Defender for Business will be available for purchase as a standalone product for $3 per user per month directly from Microsoft or through the Microsoft Partner Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) channel. “It will also be available as part of Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
